How prices are calculated

USD, billed monthly, before taxes. If a selected network is not supported, that product has no price for the full mix. YouTube comparisons cover Shorts; other post types depend on each product. LinkedIn profiles and pages each count as social accounts.

Monthly USD prices per user: Standard is $149 for up to ten social accounts; Professional is $299 with unlimited social accounts. The calculator selects by social account capacity and multiplies by one or two users. Both plans allow additional seats.

The $99 Standard and $199 Professional rates advertised on Hootsuite's pricing page require annual billing. This calculator uses the monthly rates from its public billing catalog, before taxes and optional add-ons.

Advanced, at $499 per user/month, adds formal approvals and team inbox routing. It is not selected for shared access alone. This estimate does not match Advanced features, additional AI credits, enterprise discounts or third-party app costs. Only listed direct network integrations are covered; supported publishing formats vary. Google Business Profile uses a third-party Hootsuite app, so it is excluded from this direct-integration estimate.

Sprout Social uses Essentials at $99 per user/month for up to five social accounts, or Professional at $399 per user/month for unlimited social accounts. Each extra seat costs the same plan rate. Seats share the profile allowance; adding a person does not double it.

The estimate matches publishing capacity. Standard is $249 per user/month with five social accounts and adds the Smart Inbox. Professional adds approvals and competitor reporting; Advanced is $499 per user/month. These feature requirements do not trigger automatic upgrades here. Annual rates, Listening, Premium Analytics and negotiated pricing are excluded.

Publishing formats and direct versus mobile publishing vary by network and profile type. Bluesky availability assumes a non-EU data center; Sprout does not currently offer it to EU Data Center customers. Third-party and manual workarounds for unlisted networks are excluded.

Socials includes one ViralSocial workspace; Workspaces includes unlimited workspaces. Other features and publishing limits differ. Shared team access alone does not make the products equivalent.

Which social media management tool should you choose?

ViralSocial

Unlimited social accounts and teammates

Consider ViralSocial when writing with AI, scheduling and publishing are the jobs you need to do. Add social accounts and teammates without per-profile or per-user charges. Evaluate listening, care integrations and formal approvals separately.

Hootsuite

Combine publishing and inbox work

Consider Hootsuite when publishing, messages and monitoring belong in one tool. Standard covers ten social accounts; Professional removes the limit and adds custom reports. Check Advanced if you need formal approvals.

Sprout Social

Connect reporting and customer care

Consider Sprout Social when your team needs its Smart Inbox, competitor reports or customer-care workflows. Essentials covers publishing for five social accounts; those broader functions require higher plans.

Hootsuite vs Sprout Social: common questions

What is the main difference between Hootsuite and Sprout Social?

Hootsuite Standard combines publishing for ten social accounts with an inbox and monitoring. Sprout Essentials focuses on publishing for five social accounts; Standard adds the Smart Inbox, and Professional adds unlimited social accounts, approvals and competitor reports. Start with the work your team needs to do, then compare seats and features on the right plans.

Is Hootsuite cheaper than Sprout Social?

For one user and five supported social accounts, Sprout Essentials is $99/month and Hootsuite Standard is $149/month. At six social accounts, Sprout requires Professional at $399/month while Hootsuite remains $149. Above ten, Hootsuite Professional is $299/month. These are monthly capacity estimates. They exclude taxes and optional extras, and Essentials has fewer inbox features than Hootsuite Standard.

What happens when I add a second user?

Both competitors charge another seat at the same plan rate. With four supported social accounts, two users cost $298/month on Hootsuite Standard or $198/month on Sprout Essentials. A second seat does not double the social account allowance. ViralSocial Socials remains $19/month with unlimited members in one workspace.

Which plans include formal approval workflows?

Hootsuite lists approvals on Advanced, at $499 per user/month with monthly billing. Sprout offers approval workflows on Professional at $399 per user/month; more specialized workflows depend on the plan. The calculator picks publishing capacity, so it does not upgrade Hootsuite for approvals. ViralSocial shared access and workspace roles are not presented as equivalent to formal approvals.

Do Hootsuite and Sprout Social offer AI and MCP?

Both offer AI and document MCP connections. Hootsuite lists Wisdom AI and MCP connectors. Sprout includes Trellis across plans, while its documented ChatGPT MCP connection covers TikTok post-performance data. That is different from publishing through an assistant. ViralSocial includes AI writing and MCP scheduling and publishing on both plans.

When does ViralSocial make sense instead?

Consider ViralSocial if your main needs are writing with AI, scheduling and publishing across social accounts with your team. Socials costs $19/month for one workspace; Workspaces costs $99/month for unlimited workspaces. Both include unlimited social accounts and members, starting at $1 for the first month. Keep evaluating Hootsuite and Sprout if listening, advanced customer care or formal approvals are essential.
